Hello, everyone. My name is Kako Furukawa. The building which I chose is "Walt Disney Concert Hall". It's in Downtown Los Angeles, California. Needless to say, It's used for concerts. But, it was built by Frank Gehry ingeniously, for this hall is famous as the concert hall which has very good acoustics.
When it gets a lot of sunshine, it's also very beautiful and golden.
And, it was completed in 2003, so, it's still new.
Moreover, it is romantic at night.
Then, do you know why this concert hall named "Walt Disney"?
Because Walt Disney's wife wanted to build a hall for the arts in Los Angeles and this couple contributed, so the hall was named "Walt Disney Concert Hall". And, there are some characteristics. this architecture's exterior was designed with stainless steel. The hall met with lauded approval from nearly all of its listeners, including its performers.
There are about three reasons why I love this concert hall. First, I love Disney Land. So, when I saw this architecture's name, it attracted my interest. Second, I like music and musical instruments. Actually, I love playing the piano, accordions, and glockenspiels. Then, please look at upper photos again. It looks like these musical instruments, doesn't it? I think this architecture looks like an accordion's bellows,
pipe organs, and glockenspiels' metallic plates. Third, I think that this architecture expresses tone, harmony, and powerful sound with its whole outward appearance.

For the reasons stated above, I have really taken to this concert hall and I would like to go to this concert hall to experience its good acoustics. Finally, please look at the site of this building HERE.
The color of this building is changing time to time. That is very beautiful for me. Of the 3 pictures you chosen to show us, Second one taken in the evening is most impressive for me. Mickey sometimes uses magic, but it seems that Gerhy also uses magic by his building. I think that is the reason the changes of color on this building.

Is every picture the same building? I cannot believe it!! Sooo beautiful and every picture has different atmosphere. He uses sunlight effectively so this building changes a lot of times.
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard this name, I think this is for Disney ceremony. But it was wrong. I think names of his buildings are also interesting.

I know how you feel. Since I love playing the music instruments and Disney,I was fascinated at first sight. It seems like that a harmony echos through the entire hall so much. I mean stainless steel is doing a good job!

But the reason why you chose this builing is just as same as mine. As you said, this building attracted even just by the name. I was one of them. I saw this name and I got interested. Hi. Actually I have seen this building when I went to LA 4 years ago. My impression then was '' What's this big and weird building? This is ugly.'' This is probably because I saw the building such a short distance that I didn't see the building from a moderate distance. By looking at the picture of your blog, I thought the building is well designed and the contrast that makes by the daylight and the light bulbs is beautiful. Also, I was surprised that you can play a lot of musical instruments.

Hi, Kako! I like the Hall too. It is very beautiful as you said and it has the different atmosphere at day time and night. The reflection of the sun light is wonderful. You play the piano, accordions, and glockenspiels !! I also play the piano and flute. I wish I could play the music in the concert hall. As you say, it looks like a music instrument. Your idea is great. If I have chance to go to California some day, I’d love to visit the concert hall. Thanks.

Your interpretation of what the building looks like is very interesting. And I am particularly interested in the three views you showed us - it must be fun to look at the building at various times of the day - it seems it will look different at every time. I too would like to experience a concert in this magnificent hall.
