I watched an interesting short program about Zaarly on WBS TV on November 23rd. What is Zaarly? It is an innovative twist on Craigslist where people who need help or goods can advertise their needs online inviting people to respond and do work or provide goods in return for payment. I was interested in the "doing the work" aspect that Zaarly offers. The other thing I was interested in was the speed at which the tasks and goods can be found and delivered.
Watch the short video that I did on WBS called NYで人気 便利屋仲介ビジネス.
Zaarly's HP is still not set up for Japan yet, but here is the link to it FYI.
And here is another interesting video about Zaarly. In this 1-minute video, the CEO of Zaarly is talking about the economic thinking behind his company.
What do you think about Zaarly? Would you put something on the site or respond to some else's ad? Write a comment to share your ideas.

I would like to consider 2 problem where we use this site, Zaally.
ReplyDeleteWhetehr this site is useful or not depends on how many people know this site. When sufficient number of people to work quickly for the job offers don't know this site, this service is not worth, but otherwise, it could be useful. So as far Japanese don't know this site well. Therefore, as we watched in the last class, we cannot ask someone to deliver humbergers.
Another problem is about ethical one of people who use Zaarly. When people who receive a job through the ad don't perform their obligation which is specified by the ad, the person who offer cannot achieve their purpose. Compared with the contract by face to face, I think the obligator don't see the job as serious one. If I offer to deliver humberger for my lunch, I could not have lunch.
And in that case, how to exercis the right of compensation damage? If I cannot specify the obligator, I cannot do it, and it looks difficult.
Considering these problem, I don't want to use this service.

I think Zaarly is the system for the people who are in busy and have little time for routine tasks. They want someone to help these tasks, and Zaarly can meet their demand.
ReplyDeleteI don`t think of putting something on this site, but I want to help their tasks for two reasons. The first is to get money more, and second is to change waste time into meaningful time. If Zaarly hired university student and use them effectively, Zaarly would get the people who want to do other`s task.

Motoki,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments. About your idea concerning the obligation, I think we have the same risk when we buy second hand goods from amazon.co.jp or yahoo auction. Buying and selling anything on the internet has risks. People have to be ready to take a risk to use any kind of vendor or service offered on the internet. However, the same can be said for something bought or service given in other ways. If I hire a guy to redecorate my house, then he has an obligation to do a good job for me. If it is unsatisfactory then I have to take action.
Masashi,
Your point about using university students is interesting because then students can take a job according to their schedule. It could be really great for students, like you said.

I think Zaarly is completely new idea. When I first read this blog, I thought who got this idea? Where this idea come from? because this is really new! And it is a good idea. The reason why I amazed this idea is there are many people who need someone and who need to do as work. So this Zaarly can produce the oppotunities. If I could use Zaarly in Japan, I would use to find hair cutter, nail artist and student who want me to teach. I can think of many ways to use Zaarly. Therefore I think Zaarly is useful for many people.

I am interesting in zaarly. But I do not want to use this system. I think people can ask your friends who are free to buy or do something when you are busy. We must pay more money when we use zaarly. I think it wastes money. But if you have a lot of money, you should spend it for people who want to earn money. In some cases it helps people so I hope someone would introduce this system in japan once and try it.
